Unlike the one in most foreign countries, the Japanese academic year begins
in April and ends in March of the following year. As far as the exchange
program at Ube Frontier University and Ube Frontier College is concerned,
it runs either from April until September or from October until March the
following year (1 semester respectively). Exchange students are supposed
to arrive in Japan at the end of March and leave no later than September.
Alternatively they are supposed to arrive in Japan at the end of September
and leave no later than March the following year. Scholarships of 100,000
yen per month according to the length of stay in Japan are available to
students who meet the requirements of the UMAP (University Mobility in
Asia and the Pacific) Credit Transfer Scheme.
Beginning of the Academic Year: April 1
First Semeste:r April 1 ～ September 30
Second Semester: October 1 ～ March 31
Summer Vacation: Augist 6 ～ September 30
Winter Vacation: December 22 ～ January 7
Spring Vacation: February 14 ～ March 31
End of the Academic Year: March 31

It is a 9-hour flight between Japan and Australia, but there is only one-hour
time difference.
